Leeches, maggots and bee venom clearly have a role in modern medicine. Although these uses may be limited they provide useful remedies in certain situations, particularly where other methods in medicine fail to deliver. Also, the use of leeches and maggots, although not entirely acceptable to the general public, provides non-toxic and cost effective methods where conventional drugs may or not be appropriate.
