Paints driers acts as a catalyst when added to drying and semi drying oil based compositions, synthetic resin based composition. All driers have two major components that is the metal & acid radical. The most commonly used and effective drier metals are lead, Cobalt, Manganese, Zinc, Calcium, Iron, Cerium, Zirconium, and Copper etc. The acid component is usually a high purity monocarboxylic acid, synthetic or non-synthetic. Because of variable composition of non-synthetic acids, these are no longer in use these days & only synthetic acid. (Octoic & Cekanoic Acids) are used for production of high performance paint drier.
