Our round cutter for GSM is a specialized instrument to determine the GSM of the Textile (Woven, Knitted of Non-woven fabrics) and can be used for virtually any type of material, including film, foam, carpet, paper, board & leather. Our equipment is recommended for yield i.e. determination of weight per unit area. The sample cutter cuts rapidly and accurately circular specimens of 100 sq.cm. Which is exactly one Hundredth of a Square Meter, The result in grams, multiplied by 100, gives grams X 100.
GRAMS per Square METER = Specimen Weight in Grams X 100.

The test for determination of Lea strength consists of making a lea from the yarn with the help of a reel and testing it on the lea strength tester which registers the maximum load at which the lea starts unraveling.

Bursting Strength Tester

Bursting strength tester of any material such as fabric, leather, paper, paper board & corrugated box etc. lts strength under multi directional force and is defined, as the hydrostatic pressure required producing rapture of the material when pressure is applied at a controlled increasing rate through a rubber diaphragm.

The SUPERLAB Bursting Strength Tester is bursting strength of fabric / leather / paper / paper board & corrugated box. A test specimen is held between two annular clamps under sufficient pressure to minimize slippage. The upper clamping surface which is in contact with the test specimens has a continuous spiral grooves. A circular diaphragm of pure gum rubber is clamped between the lower clamping plate & pressure cylinder so that before the diaphragm is stretched by pressure underneath it the center of its upper surface is below the plane of the clamping surface.

Thickness of any compressible material such as fabric or felt etc is defined as the thickness of material when it is compressed between two plane parallel plates under a specified pressure.

The 'SUPERLAB' Fabric Thickness Gauge is a dead load type thickness gauge consisting of a dial micrometer with a flat pressure foot which exerts a specified pressure on the specimen kept on anvil. The While arrangement is mounted on a rigid base having leveling screws to level the gauge. Both anvil and pressure foot has ground finish and mechanism ensures parallelity of anvil and foot is also provided.

Stiffness Tester

One of the Method used for determination of Stiffness of a fabric sample is based on the cantilever principal. In this method a rectangular test strip is allowed to bend under its own weight as the length of its own weight as the length of its overhanging portion projecting beyond a flat horizontal support is increased gradually. The free length which bends under its own weight sufficiently to make its leading edge intersect a plane of 41 .5° inclinations to horizontal and passing through the front edge of the plate supporting the test specimen is taken as the measure of stiffness of the fabric.

Stiffness Tester

The 'SUPERLAB' Stiffness Tester consists of a horizontal platform fitted above two vertical transparent acrylic side walls. The top plate is chromium plated to minimize friction between it and the test specimen. The transparent acrylic walls have lines marked on them to indicate the specified angle of inclination. The base of the tester is made from mild steel plates and has arrangement for adjusting the level of the testing platform.

The ability creases is determined by measurement of its crease recovery angle. In this test the test specimen is first creased under a specified load for specified period of time and is then transferred to the other and is allowed to fall freely under its own weight. This clamed end from the horizontal is read on a scale fixed to the ability of textile to recover from creases is determined by measurement of its crease the moving clamp. This angle gives the measures of the crease recovery.

The ‘SUPERLAB’ Crease Recovery Tester for fabrics consists of an arrangement to crease, a rectangular test specimen under a specimen load for the specimen duration of time and an arrangement to measure the crease recovery angle. Creasing is carried out by pressing the folders tests specimen under a load of 1kg between two flat surfaces. The load is applied by mean of the dead weight of the upper flat surface.

The Washing Fastness Tester is used for determining colorfastness of Textile material to washings. This is attained by mechanically agitating a specimen of textile contact with pieces of specified adjacent in a soap-soda solution. Before being rinsed and dried. The change in colour of the specimen and stains of the adjacent fabrics are accessed with standard Grey scale.

The SUPERLAB Washing Fastness Tester consists of a thermostatically controlled electrically heater water bath made of stainless steel. The bath is heated by means of immersion heater and its temperature is controlled by a capillary type thermostat. The temperature of water inside the bath is displayed on a digital temperature indicator. The bath has a double walled hinged lid made of stainless steel sheet.

Tensile strength and elongation are the two prime characteristics of most of the raw materials whether they are metals; or non metals such as rubber, leather, textiles, plastic, paper; or finished products such as rods, wires, ropes, yarns, belts etceteras. These two properties often play a major role in determining the suitability of any raw material for any specified application. It is therefore, of utmost importance to determine these characteristics accurately, conveniently and quickly.

The Tensile Testing Machines provide a relatively inexpensive way for determining the tensile strength and elongation of a variety of raw materials such as rubber, leather, fabric, plastics, belts, wires and etcetera. They are based on constant rate of traverse principle, in which one end of the test specimen is held in a stationery grip while the other end is moved at a known fixed speed with the help of a motor, gearbox, and screw arrangement.

Flammability Tester for Fabrics

The Flammability of fabrics is determined by igniting one end of the fabric under test by mean of a suitable burner having a specified flame intensity and determining the extend of propagate between two marked levels. In the vertical strip flammability tester, a test specimen cut from the fabric under test is suspended vertically inside an enclosure and the flame from a Bunsen burner is applied attest bottom edge.

Pilling is a fabric surface fault characterized by little pills of entangled fabric clinging to the surface. These are formed during wearing or washing by the entanglement of the loose fibers which protrude from the fabric surface and development of these into spherical bundles anchored to the fabric by a few unbroken fibers. These give unsightly look to the garments.

To determine the leniency to from pills, test specimen taken from the fabric sample are rubber against each other under controlled conditions and the appearance of the test specimen after rubbing for the specified period is compared against standard rating photographs for grading the fabric.
